Ono and Lennon wanted to have a child together even though they already had children from prior unions.
Ono experienced multiple miscarriages before the birth of their son. The couple feared for their child’s future due to their history and her advanced age. Purchasing anything for them caused them anxiety.

Lennon fell for her when he asked if he could hammer a nail into an apple.
“So smarta** says, ‘Well, I’ll give you an imaginary five shillings and hammer an imaginary nail in.’ And that’s when we really met,” Lennon explained. “That’s when we locked eyes and she got it and I got it and, as they say in all the interviews we do, the rest is history.”

Why Was John Lennon And Yoko Ono Afraid To Buy Things For Their Child
In 1969, the couple was hitched. Sean was their first and only child, born in 1975 to Ono. Ono was 42 years old at the time and had experienced multiple miscarriages. Concerned about their unborn kid, the couple. Lennon and Ono were “afraid to buy too much, for fear going home from the hospital empty-handed again,” according to Philip Norman’s book John Lennon: The Life.
Sean Lennon was born to Ono in 1975. Lennon didn’t believe that their child was still alive after she gave birth, even though she had.
The crying then starts. Lennon remarked, “I’m paralyzed, thinking, ‘Maybe it’s another one next door. However, it was ours. And I was saying “F***ing wonderful!” while dancing around and shouting obscenities at the top of my lungs.
The Couple Had One Child
Per Norman, Lennon could hardly believe that he had another son. His first child, with his wife Cynthia Lennon, was baptized John Julian Lennon. As a result, Lennon named his second son Sean, the Irish version of John.
When it came time to leave, John carried Sean down the hospital’s lengthy hallway and into the car, according to Ono. “He responded, “Okay, Sean, we’re going home,” while remaining motionless and gazing at the bundle in his arms. Then it was over.
