MORRISONS shoppers are rushing to get their hands on a tub of new ice cream inspired by an iconic British dessert – but fans are divided.

Mr Kipling’s famous French Fancy cakes have been transformed into an icey treat, with real cake chucks and fondant pieces swirled throughout.

The generous sized tub is flying off the shelves at just £2.75

One disappointed shopper posted the find on Facebook in the Newfoodsuk group.

They penned: “Currently £2.75 at Morrisons, just tried it and we thought it had a weird lemon taste.”

But others were quick to jump to Mr Kipling’s defence and praised the selection of unique ice cream flavours.

“Had a tub last night with my fella we loved it very tasty and had a few cake pieces in it, definitely getting again,” wrote a happy customer.

“Yes please,” agreed someone else.

An and third added: “Must try these.”

However, several people claimed the £2.75 tub was unfortunately a let down.

“No thank you. I tried it and didn’t like it,” commented one.

“Tried it and thought it was horrible. Had barely any flavour to it at all,” said another.

This comes as Morrisons have also been ranked in a list of supermarkets selling the cheapest fireworks this month.

While the industry giant may not have stocked ice cream to everyone’s taste, their partnership with Direct Fireworks available in stores until November 5 is sure to be a hit.

Prices for sparklers start from 50p while the Fantastic 20 Shot Fan Barrage promises sparkle after sparkle for just £25.

Meanwhile, perfect in time for Christmas, the chain has been named as one of the cheapest places to buy chocolates this week.

A tub of Quality Street or Celebrations is a necessity for most households during the festive period – so start stocking up now.

And, shoppers have gone wild as the supermarket brings back an “absolutely beautiful” Christmas snack – that’s perfect with cheese.

The Morrisons Christmas tree tiger tear ‘n’ share bread is back in stores this month in all its festive glory.
