A 50p coin with a manufacturing error could land you a nice profit as collectors are willing to pay more than 30 times its value.
Known as the Sir Isaac Newton 50p coin, this piece of loose change could earn you £14 if it happens to have “weird lines” across the Queen’s portrait.

The Sir Isaac Newton 50p was first issued in 2017 to mark the 375th anniversary of the famous scientist’s birth.
But eagle-eyed collectors soon noticed something a little different on some of their 50p’s.
Many reported finding an error on the obverse (the side featuring the monarch’s head), where several extra lines appeared across the Queen’s portrait.
It’s not known how many of these error coins are in circulation but it was predicted at the time that the limited run could well have been substantially less than 210,000.

As a result, they are considered a rarity and have very much become a collectors item.
They can also sell for a pretty penny.
You can make money from these rare coins by selling them at auction, either online or in person, or through a dealer.
But ChangeChecker, at least, have said that they have been known to fetch hefty sums on the secondary market.

Back in May, one sold for £8.99, while another went for £13.99 a month earlier.
Therefore, it’s certainly worth having a look through purses and wallets or old money jars just in case you happen to be in possession of one.
However, it’s worth remembering that the price of the coin can vary, based on things like demand at the time and how common it is.
A coin is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Nonetheless, you could still be one of the lucky one’s if you happen to find the error coin and come across the right buyer.
