WETHERSPOONS is loved for its cheap pints, so devoted fans may be sad to learn that their local could disappear forever.

The pub chain announced last year that it was looking to close dozens of sites after warning that it faces huge losses.

The hospitality chain runs 844 pubs in the UK and Ireland and employs up to 43,000 people.

We explain which boozers have shut their doors this year so far – and if any more will close too.

Which Wetherspoons pubs are up for sale?

Wetherspoons currently has 32 pubs up for sale – 13 of which are currently under offer.

This means that a buyer has presented an offer that is being considered by the seller.

Why is Wetherspoons closing some of its pubs?

Last year, Wetherspoon revealed its sales are still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels.

Spoons boss Tim Martin said far more people now drink in their homes rather than in pubs.

Venues have also hiked beer and grub prices by up to 7.5 per cent, The Sun exclusively revealed in February.

Pubs have been knocked by rising costs as inflation sends prices soaring and less demand among cash-strapped punters.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

Having your trusty Wetherspoon app means you can cash-in on all the latest deals and discounts at your local.

It’s free download, and even lets you order at the table too.

Wetherspoon offers discounted dinners as part of its Steak and Curry Clubs.

It’s worth joining in the craze as you can get something like a gourmet steak and a beer over a pound cheaper than normal.

You used to be able to order the menus only on certain days of the week but Wetherspoon made the dishes available everyday back in June last year.

At Wetherspoons you can get tea or coffee from as little as £1.20.

And you can keep refilling your hot drink as much as you want at no extra charge.
