Stepping down: Umar Kamani with his girlfriend Nada Adelle

Umar Kamani, the founder of PrettyLittleThing, is stepping down as chief executive after ten years.

The businessman, 35, who set up the fashion company in 2012 with his brother Adam, has overseen PLT’s explosive growth from a simple market stall in Manchester to a global brand now worth an estimated £3.8billion.

PrettyLittleThing has become known for its celebrity collaborators, including Kylie Jenner and Molly-Mae Hague, who is also its creative director.

In 2020, Kamani sold his remaining 34 per cent stake in PLT to Boohoo, which is run by his father Mahmud.

Kamani is said to be ready for a new challenge. A source said: ‘It won’t be long until he sets his sights on his next adventure.

‘He’s leaving a very happy man after achieving extraordinary success.’
