A more natural method is to add half a cup of distilled white vinegar to a wash.

If there are no logos or any other colours on the garment, you can try soaking it in laundry bleach such as Ace for Whites, £1.40 at Wilko, and further adding to the wash.

Dry clothes in direct sunlight, which is especially good for removing any food stains and also works a treat on stubborn baby poo marks.

COLOUR CHANGE: For stains that do not budge, or severe discolouration, give your clothes a makeover with a new colour.

Hand dye is cheaper than solu-tions you pop in the washing machine.
