MACCIES launched its brand new Chicken Big Mac this week but fans are convinced an easy hack makes a cheaper alternative.

The new burger is a take on the classic Big Mac with a chicken twist, but foodies are pointing out it tastes more like two Mayo Chicken burgers slapped together.

Despite tasting similar, McDonald’s fans pointed out that the biggest difference between the two poultry menu options is the price.

The new Chicken Big Mac, that was launched in UK stores on February 1, costs foodies around £4, or up to £6 for a meal – though prices can vary from branch to branch.

A Mayo Chicken burger from the fast-food giant universally costs 99p in comparison, so two towered on top of each other will set you back just under £2.

That’s at least half the price of new menu entry – so if you try a “make your own” approach by combining two Mayo Chickens, you could make a saving of 50%.

Taking to Twitter, fans shared their thoughts.

One said: “Just tried the Chicken Big Mac and it’s fine.

“It’s basically Mayo Chicken burgers though, with Big Mac sauce. You could probably just order that and get it cheaper,” they wrote.

Another added: “It’s not worth the £4.39.”

And over on Facebook, one fan said: “I’m not sure I’d actively spend £6 on a large meal, over two Mayo Chickens for £2.”

Of course, you miss out on some of the staple ingredients that are found in the Chicken Big Mac and original Big Mac if you opt for your own DIY burger.

The Chicken Big Mac comes with cheese, and pickles, and the chain’s famous burger sauce, whereas the Mayo Chicken just has its name-sake eggy-based sauce to boast.

Many more agreed that the cheaper hack was the way to go, as they continued to discuss the new burger across the social media sites. One said: “Just found out the chicken in the Big Mac is the same as in a Chicken Mayo.”

Another said: “It’s just like a McChicken sandwich but with more bread.”

One teased the fast-food giant by saying: “Has someone at McDonald’s over-ordered on the 99p Mayo Chicken burgers?”

So it was clear fans thought the new addition bore a striking resemblance to other existing and CHEAPER menu items.

Our own reporter Jess Clark had a bite of the new burger too and she said “it’s like eating cheesy chicken nuggets.”

The Chicken Big Mac is only available until March 15 so if you want to try it yourself you’ll need to be quick.

For those not daring enough to part with their own cash for the adventurous new take, we reveal how you can essentially get the burger for FREE.

It’s part of a cashback offer but means you don’t have to go to the lengths of creating your own burger if you want to make a big saving.

To make way for the temporary new addition though, McDonald’s angered a few fans by axing a few popular menu items.

Plus, many were upset to find the new burger is a bit messy to eat compared to a beef burger Big Mac.
