To collect points on your Clubcard, you just need to scan it at the till when you shop at Tesco – if you don’t have one it’s easy to sign up, just download the app.

You can collect points on groceries, fuel, online shopping and anything else you find in store.

To sign up for free, you’ll need to register an account with Tesco. But you’ll only need to pop in a few details like your name and address, and you should receive your card through the post.

You get one point for every £1 spent – or one point for every £2 on fuel – and 150 points is equivalent to a £1.50 voucher.

But rather than use the points to get money off your groceries, it’s often better value for money to spend vouchers with one of Tesco’s reward partners.

Points are worth up to three times more when you redeem them with one of the supermarket’s partners.

There are plenty of brands you can use the points with including RAC, Disney+, Thorpe Park and more.

But you might not realise that there’s also an option to turn your Clubcard points into flying points if you’re part of the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

One savvy shopper saved £2,600 by using this hack, sharing it on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

She was travelling to the USA, and said: “I converted my Tesco Clubcard points to Virgin Points.

“I had about £30 worth that equated to 9,350 points. Then I bought the remaining points for £180.

“As a result, the flight that would have cost £3,195 cost me £548.”

To turn Clubcard points into Virgin points, you’ll need to be a member of the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club programme.

You can find out how to do that on the Virgin website here.

It’s free to join and you’ll be able to save up flying points for however long you need them – they won’t expire.

To convert points over, you’ll need to sign into your account and scroll down the page until you find “Voucher Schemes”, and then tap the “Virgin Points” box.

You should be able to select the number of Clubcard points you’d like to swap using the basket on your account.

Each Clubcard point is worth 2.5 Virgin Points – meaning every £2.50 in Clubcard points is worth 625 Virgin Points.

£2.50 is also the minimum value you can choose if you’re converting points through Virgin.

If you want to buy more points, there should be an option for that at the checkout – but you need to have Virgin points stored up already (it doesn’t matter how many) in order for it to work.

But do note there are always cheaper flights available with other airlines, so we recommend having a scout around before you make a decision.

You can get some flights for £100-£200 if you go later in the year as well – so make sure you check different booking sites so you’ve got a range of options.
