TESCO has revealed its Christmas ad for 2023 showing how each trip to the supermarket can get you feeling more Christmassy.

The heartwarming ad features a family getting ready for Christmas day with some family members more excited than others.

The fun campaign brings to life how the build-up to Christmas can be just as festive and exciting as Christmas Day.

The ad opens with an enthusiastic dad and his less impressed teenage son driving to Tesco for their usual weekly shop.

As the pair are wandering around the store, Dad spots a Christmas sampling display and after tasting Tesco’s finest triple chocolate star-shaped panettone, he immediately transforms into a Christmas tree.

Dad soon starts to get into the festive spirit and in typical teenager fashion, his son looks embarrassed and walks away, clearly reluctant to join in the fun.

In another scene, Dad has fully transformed into a glorious Christmas tree complete with decorations and twinkling lights as he is putting the final touches to decorations at home.

Shortly after Mum is overcome with festive joy when she shares some of Tesco’s finest golden mince pies and transforms into a spectacular Snowmum.

It is not only members of the family who are “becoming more Christmas” as they visit Tesco in the build-up to the big day either.

Following a second visit to the supermarket other customers can also be seen transforming and at the checkout, Christmas tree Dad is even served by a staff member who has transformed into a reindeer.

While everyone around him ‘becomes more Christmas’ the teenage son remains reluctant to get into the festive spirit.

However, eventually, Dad gives him the handcrafted Christmas tree topper that he made when he was a little boy and it’s just the nudge he needs to transform into a Christmas tree himself, topped with that very star.

Emma Botton, group customer director said: “We want our seasonal campaigns to reflect how our customers feel as we know there’s been even more anticipation ahead of festivities this year.”

She went on to say that the Tesco Christmas report revealed that nearly a quarter of the UK was already looking forward to Christmas as early as September.

Emma added: “This year, our #BecomeMoreChristmas ad captures the emotions and excitement we feel, as we draw closer to the big day.”

The ad is set to the soundtrack of OMC’s ‘How Bizarre’ and airs on TV for the first time on Sunday, November, 19, on ITV during ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, which starts at 9pm.

Meanwhile, other retailers have already launched their Christmas ads.

The much anticipated John Lewis ad sees a little boy on his quest for the perfect Christmas tree.

While everyone’s favourite Christmas character, Kevin the Carrot, appears again in the Aldi’s again this year.

Micheal Buble stars as chief quality officer in Asda’s hilarious Christmas offering for 2023.

Not to be outdone, M&S first Christmas advert features Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and a host of other stars.
