For Sweeney, playing Olivia was a dream role. She not only got to escape the routine of quarantine by filming in Hawaii, but The White Lotus also represented her debut in the comedic genre. Although the cast member of The Players Table says that she was scared of playing her part, she enjoyed creating the biting college sophomore. Playing a character that is so dissimilar to Sweeney is a tremendous treat for her. She can create her character into a fully-formed individual who she can jump in and out of at the drop of a hat because of her meticulous preparation procedure.
Mike White Gushes About The ‘Euphoria’ Actor’s Talents
Sweeney’s colleagues actors, including White, appear to be in awe of her ability to change into a different persona. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the director of The White Lotus enthused about Sweeney’s talent. White said of Sweeney, “And then she’s clearly nothing like that as a person, so it all felt extremely thrilling.” She is incredibly endearing and lovely, but when she is in front of a camera, she exhibits certain abilities. I don’t want to sound like some Old Hollywood freak. She most definitely possesses the special type of charm that only few performers possess.

How Sweeney Landed Her Role In ‘The White Lotus’
It appears that Sweeney’s wizardry had a role in her being cast in The White Lotus. Together with the fact that she approached Olivia in a distinctive manner from her rivals. Sweeney’s depiction of Olivia seems to be motivated by contempt and intimidation rather than an attempt at humor.
White praised Sweeney’s audition performance to The Washington Post, saying, “She had this fantastic, deadpan, monotone attitude that I thought was very amusing.” Many actresses who performed it in a more precocious or conventionally humorous manner were successful in hitting the zingers. She just acted in this disgruntled, blank manner, which was sort of an interesting perspective. She doesn’t necessarily share many traits with Olivia, yet she turned out to be the ideal match.
