Sky broadband crashed for thousands of users today as it went offline for half an hour for customers on the south coast of England. 

The connectivity problems started at 4:25pm GMT and outage tracking site DownDetector saw a peak in complaints of more than 2,000 shortly after.

The vast majority of issues were with accessing the internet, accounting for 95 per cent of all problems. 

NowTV, the streaming service owned and run by Sky, also experienced an unusually high number of user complaints.

A Sky spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We are aware that there was a short outage to our broadband services this afternoon in the Hampshire area. 

‘This has now been fixed and we’re sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.’ 

Users took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the loss of service, which comes just two weeks after another drop in coverage. 

Hampshire-based user, Lucy Oakley, tweeted: ‘#skybroadband down again, 2nd time in a few weeks, is it the whole of Hampshire again or the whole of [the] country? Please sort before 8pm for the footy’

Her sentiment was echoed by Ryan Terry, who said he regrets the day he changed broadband to sky last month. 

‘Always was fine with BT however since moving to Sky constant issues. What’s the complaints procedure please?’ he adds. 

Sky experienced technical issues on January 7 when broadband went down for thousands in the morning. 

A Sky spokesperson told MailOnline at the time: ‘There was a four minute outage to our broadband services this morning in the South Yorkshire area. We’re sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.’ 

Hotspots of outages sprung up in Sheffield, Norfolk and London, but smatterings were seen at several major cities.
