But instead of replacing your old ones, take them back to box-fresh again with some of these easy cleaning tips . . .
SCRUB UP: Grab an old toothbrush and some mild laundry detergent mixed with water.
Gently scrub away dirt and stains from the fabric and soles.

The toothbrush allows you to get into all the tiny crevices where dirt sits.
If you have trainers with a suede exterior, water can actually set the stain into fabric so just use a dry toothbrush.
By scrubbing gently all over, this should loosen dirt and lift out most marks.
ALL WHITE: Mix one part white vinegar with one part water and use it to clean leather or fabric trainers.

It’s excellent for getting rid of stubborn stains.
Use a microfibre cloth to wipe over afterwards.
MAKES SCENTS: Sprinkle a bit of Bicarbonate of Soda, 65p from Asda, inside your trainers to absorb odours.
Just remember to shake it out before wearing them.
RUB IT OUT: If the edges of your trainers are perhaps looking a little grubby, you can use a magic eraser to remove scuff marks and restore.

SMOOTH OVER: If you have a creased toe area, place a damp towel over this part of the shoe and gently iron it at a low setting.
The steam will help relax the fabric and reduce creases.
FUTURE PROOFING: Prevention is the name of the game.
Invest in a good-quality protector spray such as Sof Sole Waterproof Protector, £6, JD Sports, to keep your trainers safe from dirt, water and stains.
A single application can go a long way in extending the life of your favorite kicks.
