Twitter’s boss is facing pressure to resign as advertisers pull out in a row over antisemitism.

Linda Yaccarino, who joined the social media site – now known as X – in June, has faced a major backlash after the Elon Musk-owned company was accused of placing adverts next to antisemitic posts.

The former NBCUniversal ad executive was hired to woo advertisers.

But there are calls for her to step down as the likes of IBM, Apple, Walt Disney, Comcast and Warner Bros cut ties with X.

The European Commission has also told staff to pull advertising because of ‘an alarming increase in disinformation and hate speech’.

But Yaccarino, 59, posted last week: ‘X has been extremely clear about our efforts to combat antisemitism and discrimination.’

Nick Waters, chief executive of Ebiquity, the London-listed firm that helps companies allocate advertising spend, said: ‘Her credibility is in tatters.

‘She should go because she isn’t in control of what is happening on her watch. She can’t keep advertisers safe from this complete disaster.’
