But the tech giant won’t do it for any old cable – it’ll only work for very particular circumstances.

Buying a brand new one would cost you £19 for the official Apple product.

“Here’s how you can get your iPhone, iPad or MacBook charger replaced for free by Apple,” the video maker tells his 262,000 followers.

“If you still have warranty on your devices such as iPad, iPhone, or MacBook, Apple will cover the wires under those warranties for up to one year.”

This means any user who bought an iPhone in the last 12 months is eligible.

If your cable is playing up and shows no visible issues, you might be in luck.

To do it, you have to book a genius bar appointment at your local Apple store.

Take your Apple product with you as well as the affected cable and your receipt to prove it was purchased in the last 12 months.

Success seems to be hit and miss.

Some users reporting they managed to get a free cable while others said it didn’t work for them.

If you meet the requirements and are having issues with your lightning wire it’s worth a shot.
