OVERWATCH 2 launched on Tuesday (October 4), but the majority of players haven’t been able to enter a game.
This is because of a special kind of cyber attack, called a DDoS attack.

A DDoS attack is when someone sets up a bot, or multiple bots, to continuously try to send data to the servers.
As the servers try to fend off the attack, it makes it more difficult for them to carry out their usual functions, in this case running Overwatch 2.
With the servers struggling, fewer matches of Overwatch 2 can run at the same time, meaning fewer people can play the game.
This has led players to queue for hours to enter a match.
As a free-to-play game, the servers for the original Overwatch were shut down in anticipation of the sequel’s launch.
This has made the queueing situation even worse for those hoping to try out the new game.
While queues have reached as high as 10k players, this is not the only issue players are having.
There are also plenty of reports of skins and items not transferring over from the original game for players.

While others still report being unable to purchase items from the in-game shop.
A member of the Overwatch team, Aaron Keller, updated fans about the ongoing situation.
He tweeted: “We’re steadily making progress on server issues and stability, as well as working through a second DDoS attack.
“We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night.
“Thank you for your patience – we’ll share more info as it becomes available.”
Despite developer Blizzard’s continued work on the issue, it appears that the servers are still under strain from the attacks.
If you want to play Overwatch 2 without a long wait, you may want to jump into the game a bit later, when the situation is under control.
