SHINE ON: Hanging wall lights look great in any kids’ bedroom and the soft shine will act as a night light.
Dunelm, has cut the price of fairy lights. Roar dinosaur string lights, usually £10, are now £8, and Llama lights are just £3.50 when they are usually a fiver. Bargain!

GLOW UP: Add soft light to teen bedrooms without forking out a fortune. I found the 2m x 2m Indoor Copper Firefly Christmas Curtain Wire Lights, which make a glowing wall, reduced to £27.99 from £39.99 at amazon.co.uk.
You can get a similar effect for less at Argos, where the Habitat 160 Warm White Icicle String Lights are now £6, usually £9.50. Very.co.uk also has a Duo Neon Star Room Light Christmas Decoration with £11 off, making it £24.99.

BOTTLE IT: It can’t just be me who polished off a few fancy bottles of gin over Christmas. Well, you’ll be pleased to know that a hangover need not be the only thing you’re left with.
Wash out empty bottles and use hot water to remove labels. Then pick up ten battery-operated string lights for £1 from Poundland and pop them into the bottles. Not only does it look great, but it’s good value — John Lewis is selling a Talking Tables light bottle stopper for £10, and you’d need batteries on top of that, so go DIY for around £1 a time.
SAVE: £9 per bottle
