Belfast docks were boosted after Harland & Wolff won a vessel refurbishment contract worth up to £70million.
The shipbuilding company – which was founded in 1861 – has landed a deal to upgrade a large craft for an as yet unnamed client.
It is expected to be in the dry dock in Belfast for five months, through to early 2024.
Harland & Wolff’s drydock in Belfast is the biggest in the UK.
As part of the project, £5million is being made available to the company to start work before the craft arrives.

In July, Harland & Wolff won a contract from the Ministry of Defence on behalf of the Lithuanian Defence Materiel Agency worth £55million to regenerate a former Royal Navy mine-hunting ship.
And in April, the Belfast shipyard delivered its first completed vessel in more than two decades when a barge was delivered to London-based waste management firm Cory.
The shipyard’s iconic yellow cranes are known by the locals as Samson & Goliath, a symbol of Belfast’s once-mighty shipbuilding industry.
