McDonald’s is offering the freebie after new research revealed that 39million Brits are a victim of “fry theft”.

In response to these findings, the fast food chain is allowing victims of “fry theft” the chance to claim back chips owed.

A spokesperson at McDonald’s said: “At McDonald’s, we’re standing up for everyone who has been the victim of Fries theft – it’s finally time for this to come to an end.

“This Friday, we’re pleased to be able to dish out the compensation victims deserve – justice and Fries are finally being served for the worst criminal acts.”

To be in with a chance of winning a portion of medium fries, customers will have to tweet @McDonaldsUK about their fry theft experiences.

Winners will then be contacted via direct message.

They will then need to provide their email address which will need to be linked to a valid McDonald’s App account.

You can download the McDonald’s app for free and you can use it to order food, as well as find offers and discounts.

The My McDonald’s app is available to download for free from the Google Play store for Android phones and Apple’s app store for iPhone users.

The free portion of medium fries will then be uploaded to their account.

Usually a medium serving of the potato snacks will set you back £1,19, but prices can vary depending on location.

Customers have until 11pm this evening to tweet their experience.

Winners will then need to redeem their free fries token on the McDonald’s app by 11.59pm on Thursday, December 1.

McDonalds’s has over 1,300 restaurants across the UK and customers will be able to redeem their free fries offer at all locations.

It’s not the only way you can get free food and drink from McDonalds as it does a number of regular deals.

For instance, you can get a McDonald’s Big Mac and fries for £1.99 every time you go to the golden arches.

All you need is an old McDonald’s receipt from a previous trip.

A 12-digit code will be printed on the proof of purchase, and you can enter this McDonald’s Food for Thought website to fill out a quick survey regarding your recent trip.

You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £1.99 offer.

This code can be used in any McDonald’s branch to get a Big Mac and fries for £1.99.

Normally this purchase would cost £4.79, so you can save £2.80 with the lesser-known rewards offer – making it less than half price.

The McDonald’s app can often get you money off your food.

It’s a goldmine for offers – so all you need to do is download it to your phone and set up an account.
