National Lottery urged Brits to check their tickets as soon as possible to uncover the secret identity of the lucky winner.

The life-changing sum is the second major jackpot that’s been won this month, after another player scooped £8.6million on May 11.

The winning numbers were 30, 31, 37, 45, 49, 56.

Another 23 players also won £1,750 after picking five of the six options but just missed out on a £1 million cash prize without the bonus number, 51.

The news comes after a married couple from Gloucestershire won Britain’s biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot – an eye-watering £184million.

Earlier in May, Joe Thwaite, 49, and wife Jess, 44, won the staggering cash prize that now makes them instantly richer than Adele.

The lucky pair carried on with their day like normal after realising their mega win and celebrated with a family meal – “We’re just an ordinary family,” Jess said.

Now Joe and Jess are eyeing up a £7.25million Cotswolds mansion near Jeremy Clarkson’s farm and are going to pay people to do their DIY.

Now National Lottery players should check their tickets to discover if they have become instantly £8.5million richer.

Andy Carter, the senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery, hailed the multimillion-pound jackpot as “amazing news”.

He said: “This is the second big win this month after one lucky ticket-holder banked the giant £8.6 million Lotto jackpot on 11 May.

“Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call to claim this amazing prize.”

Nobody successfully picked the winning Thunderball combination – 22, 23, 24, 30, 37 plus the Thunderball number 02 – meaning the £500,000 prize went unclaimed.

However, 16 players won £250 by choosing four correct numbers in addition to the Thunderball number.

In a recent survey, Brits revealed the first thing they’d buy if they won the EuroMillions.

Most picked holidays and home upgrades, and more than a quarter said they’d want to splash the cash on a new car first.

But one per cent of the 5,000 people polled said they’d head straight to a bookies or into a casino and try to improve on their win.

Eight per cent would immediately pay off their debts, but only five per cent would hand their winnings over to charity.

And four per cent would visit Harley Street for cosmetic surgery as to celebrate their win with a lift and tuck.
