Police in Connecticut say they located a kidnapping victim while stopping a man wanted by Pennsylvania police.
The Bethlehem Police Department warned Connecticut authorities Monday afternoon that robbery suspect Jose Alberto Claudio-Diaz was traveling through the state, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Shortly after receiving the request, CSP stopped Claudio-Diaz in the town of Trumbull, according to a criminal information summary for the case.
When Claudio-Diaz was pulled over, police discovered a woman who was being brought “across state lines without her consent,” according to the summary.
Claudio-Diaz was arrested and charged with kidnapping in the first degree and assault of a public safety officer, and his bond was set at $300,000 ahead of his initial court appearance this morning at Bridgeport Superior Court, according to his criminal information summary.
It was unclear whether Claudio-Diaz has obtained a lawyer.
The Bethlehem Police Department did not immediately respond to a NBC News request for comment about the details of the robbery case.
The Connecticut State Police said they had no new information to release on the case.
At a news conference Tuesday, the CSP said that they believed the victim was kidnapped in Pennsylvania and en route Springfield, Massachusetts, NBC News Connecticut reported.
