Club 219 Was Once A Popular LGBTQ Nightclub In Milwaukee

According to WisLGBTHistory.com, the location was once home to Gary’s and Circus Circus, two well-known dance clubs. The rumor of a “trash bar” at 219 S. 2nd Street with no address first surfaced in August 1980.

Later, advertisements bearing the phrase “Trash it up at Club 219” began to run. This changed became Club 219, the primary party location for Milwaukee’s LGBT community. Bright lighting, loud music, and exhilarating dance parties made the pub famous. Male strippers and drag show performances were occasionally presented at Club 219 as well.

17 men were murdered by Dahmer between 1978 and 1991. Numerous victims of the serial murderer, including Tracy Edwards, were encountered there. After Dahmer’s arrest in July 1991, the bar gained recognition across the country. Club 219 continued to be operational for an additional 14 years despite Dahmer’s connection to the area.

WisLGBTHistory.com claims that the area’s development reduced parking options for club visitors, which had a detrimental effect on the club’s attendance. The bar hired DJ Tony (Tonya) in 2005, who changed the club’s music, lighting, and entertainment. But in October 2005, Club 219 formally shut its doors.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Former Night Club Is Now The Wall Street Stock Bar

The Wall Street Stock Bar has taken the position of the Rec Room Craft Co. at 219 S. 2nd Street as of 2019. According to a local publication, “For admirers of The Wolf of Wall Street, a new bar is going up on 2nd Street that may just grab your eye.”

Another Milwaukee source claims that The Wall Street Stock Bar offers light meals including flatbread pizza, nachos, and chicken salad in addition to artisan drinks named after Wall Street titans. According to co-owner Charese Gardner, the bar caters to local business executives and provides “the taste of New York to the Midwest.”
