Iceland has almost 1,000 stores nationwide and is one of the most popular supermarkets in the UK.

Here, we have rounded up all the information you need to know about Iceland’s opening times over the Easter Bank Holiday.

Is Iceland open over the Easter Bank Holiday?

It is expected that Iceland stores will be open as usual on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

All stores in England and Wales will be closed on Easter Sunday because of a rule restricting stores bigger than 280 square metres in size from opening.

Despite there being no restrictions on trading on Easter Sunday in Scotland, Iceland stores will also be closed there.

There will be possible exception in shopping centres or smaller stores, so it would be best to check beforehand.

You are able to find your nearest Iceland branch with their store locator, which can be found on their website.

What shops are closed over Easter bank Holiday?

Stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are not allowed to open on Easter Sunday if they are larger than 280 square metres in size.

Because of this, large supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda and Morrisons will have to close their doors for the day in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Large shops that continue to operate despite being larger than 280 square metres in size can receive a fine.

This does not apply to Scotland however, as there are no restrictions on trading over Bank Holidays.

Retailers whose stores do not exceed 280 square metres in size will be allowed to open.

This is because these are considered small shops. It means that smaller versions of supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s local will be allowed to open on Easter Sunday.

Other stores are not mandated to close on this day, but may choose to in order to provide their staff with an extra day off.
