But one shopper went to place an order via the Uber Eats app, only to discover that she was being charged £1.89 for just one hashbrown.

Horrified with the discovery, she posted in Facebook’s Extreme Couponing & Bargains group.

She said: “I was looking on UberEats at the McDonald’s breaky stuff and couldn’t believe what they were charging for 1 hash brown!

“I was going to get payday treats but decided absolutely not!!! £1.89 for 1 hash brown.

“Then I remembered I’d seen them in Aldi before, so I popped in as needed some other bits too.”

She found that you can get 10 hashbrowns for just £1.89 – and they’re pretty much a McDonald’s dupe.

And it seems many people had already cottoned onto finding a better deal.

One said: “I get these from Aldi for my boys, air fry them too, they love them.”

Another tagged their friend and said: “You need to get these from Aldi.”

While another commented: “You need to get these from Aldi.”

Aldi is selling 10 hashbrowns for just £1.89 – 50p more than McDonald’s/Uber Eats cost.

The cost of the hashbrowns from Aldi would work out at just 18p each.

In store, McDonald’s hash browns cost £1.39 for one, so it would be cheaper to get the direct compared to using a third-party.

Of course, prices will vary depending on the way you order and the location.

It’s always best to look at different ways of ordering and consider which option is best for you.

There are many ways to save money by shopping at Aldi.

The supermarket is known for selling dupes of luxury items and you may want to consider trying them before splashing the cash.

For example, shoppers have been quick to lap up its candles and fragrances which have mirrored some of Jo Malone’s items.

It also recently duped a McDonald’s menu item after it was cut from the restaurant chain.

And let’s not forget it’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake which bore an uncanny resemblance to M&S’ famous Colin.

How can I save money at McDonald’s?

Signing up to the My McDonald’s app means you can keep on top of the latest deals and offers.

The app will allow you to browse the latest menu available at McDonald’s – you can download it for free via Google Play or the App Store.

It works anywhere you have internet, so you can look up what’s on offer while you’re out and about, or at home.

Every Monday, the app has a host of deals available to cash in on.

Researching and comparing prices at your local McDonald’s branches could also save you some cash on your order.

Menu prices can vary in restaurants just a couple of miles apart – so choose your branch wisely.

Our research found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30p cheaper at restaurants that are just two miles apart from each other.

You can bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a McDonald’s app user.

Remember to log your date of birth in the app – otherwise you could miss out on free food or drinks.

The birthday offers are usually in line with the McDonald’s Mondays offers, discounts and deals.

If you’re a Big Mac fan, you can get the burger along with a side of fries for just £1.99.

To get the offer you need to fill out a quick survey feedback survey after a previous visit to redeem the offer.

All you need is an old McDonald’s receipt from a previous trip no longer than 60 days ago.
