GMAIL users have complained to Google about a small but significant change they’ve noticed on their inboxes.

People claim that more ads are appearing in between their emails.

And the move has made it harder to tell what’s an email and what’s an advert on Gmail.

The only thing that distinguishes them apart is a tiny “Ad” icon.

Loads of people have taken to Twitter to complain about it to Google, describing the changes as “really annoying” and a “sh***y experience”.

“Hey @gmail! Adding an ad into the MIDDLE of my email inbox is NOT COOL,” one person said.

“As a person who works very hard to keep my email in check, I am absolutely INCENSED that Gmail is just putting random ads in my inbox now???” another added.

“I don’t mind a couple at the top but scattered randomly amongst my read items is really annoying,” a third commented.

“yo @gmail, how to get these ads out of my inbox feeds? This is such a sh***y experience,” a fourth frustrated user wrote.

In a statement to 9to5Google, the company didn’t appear to deny the change, saying it is “always experimenting with formats”.

The tech giant also reiterated that it never sells data or uses data from Gmail for ads.

“We are always experimenting with formats and working on ways to help people discover and connect with new businesses,” Google told the publication.

“The Promotions tab shows promotional emails from businesses that people subscribe to, as well as offers and deals from companies people might like.

“We rolled out instream ads in the Promotions tab last year across mobile and in the past month expanded to desktop as well.”
