WHATSAPP voice notes are an easy way to message when you don’t feel like typing but their one big flaw is you can’t easily listen back to them.

This could all about to change though as WhatsApp is expected to release a listen-back voice note feature in a future update.

According to an article from Marca, the update is “likely to come very soon”.

Users will reportedly be able to record a voice note and then have the option to delete, send or listen back to it.

Its unclear when this feature will be available.

However, if you cant wait for the feature then there is a trick you can try to stop your voice notes sending right away.

How to listen back to WhatsApp voice notes

First, you need to open the relevant WhatsApp chat and click the microphone symbol in the bottom right corner.

Hold it down and slide up until you see the lock symbol.

This means you can tape longer messages hands-free instead of having to hold down the record button.

You can start recording and once you’re done, instantly click the back button to take you out of the chat and back to the WhatsApp main page.

Once you go back into the chat your audio should be waiting for you to play.

You can click the play button and listen back.

Recording a voice note the normal way sees your message instantly send upon release of the record button.

If you do send a WhatsApp message or voice note and instantly regret it you should quickly hold the message down and click “Delete for Everyone”.
