About 17million of us are expected to snap up record 75 per cent price cuts in a £2.5billion spree.

One in three Brits will log on to spend an average of £111 each, after many checked prices over the weekend.

But experts predict worse website meltdowns than seen on Friday.

That saw Currys PC World’s website crash, with the blowout wiping some people’s gift cards.

Aldi’s website blocked shoppers from accessing its site after launching a Nintendo Switch sale.

And problems with Apple Store and Nintendo’s own website were reported by downdetector.co.uk.

Shoppers are expected to spend £1.9billion online and £600million in-store — the total of £2.5billion beating Black Friday’s £2.4billion.

It will take the total spree online since Friday to £5.6billion — up almost 60 per cent on 2019 and more than was spent online during the whole of December ten years ago.

Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, said: “Cyber Monday is so big online as people now often want to check prices before buying goods.

“Some wait for bigger discounts after Black Friday.

“But such high website volumes mean some retailers’ online systems won’t be able to manage the increased demand.”
