A SCOTS homeowner is facing another £20,000 fine after painting her door “off-white”.

Earlier this year, Miranda Dickson clashed with council bosses who said her door in Edinburgh’s New Town had to be changed or she could face a hefty penalty.

A reporter ruled the colour of the door had to change by April.

Now the 48-year-old has received another complaint due to her “off-white” door, with one unhappy person claiming the latest colour is another shade of pink.

Miranda said she is “shocked and distraught” about the latest development.

She told the BBC: “I am speechless that someone has complained about this colour as far as I was concerned this chapter in my life was closed.

“I’m shocked and distraught about it. It is definitely not the same colour as it was originally painted – it’s an off-white.

“I feel bullied and that it has now become personal.”

Ms Dickson first received an enforcement notice last year when City of Edinburgh Council said the door was “not in keeping with the historic character” of the listed building and had to be changed.

The mother-of-two, who is a brand ambassador in the drinks industry, moved back to Edinburgh after working in the US for nine years.

She refurbished the house with the last task being the painting of the front door.

Government reporter Steve Field said the pink door had breached rules and recommended it should be changed to white.

The written decision allowed Ms Dickson more time to have the work completed in spring but it said she should apply for permission if she wanted to choose an alternative colour.

She added: “It’s not like my door is in a bad condition.

“It costs a lot of money to have the front door painted because they are very large. It’s not a quick job.

“The council needs to act with more clarity over paint colour.”

A City of Edinburgh Council spokeswoman said: “We have received a complaint alleging that the door has been repainted pink.

“We’re currently looking into this and so can’t say more at this time.”
