The Which? taste test results show that bargain booze may well be the best option, and shoppers may want to swap big brands for budget versions of their favourite tipple.

The Stefanoff Passion Fruit Martini Cocktail costs just 89p and was named this summer’s best canned cocktail in the test.

Aldi’s take on the classic Pornstar Martini – a mixture of vodka and passionfruit, often served with a shot of prosecco – scored the highest on taste, aroma and appearance.

It beat pricier alternatives from other leading retailers like M&S and Tesco.
