INSURERS could replace your written-off car with an electric one under new sustainability plans and a bid to go green.
It’s the same if your car is stolen, you could get an electric match instead of the normal like-for-like under the proposed policy.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has introduced the plans saying it believes it can have a significant impact on improving transport emissions and other environmental issues.
The ABI has set out a roadmap outlining the plans of the swap and how insurers are moving towards a net-zero target by 2050.
The new green approach would affect the many thousands of claims that are settled each year where drivers with the right cover can get their written-off car replaced.
Instead of having an exact copy of their last car though, the close resembling greener alternative will be offered.
Road transport is said to be one of the heaviest polluters.
If everybody was instead offered an electric car when their old one became too damaged for repair, then the petrol versions may eventually be eradicated from the roads.
But other replacements are suggested in the policy too, such as damaged gas boilers which could also be replaced with more sustainable models instead.
Plus customers may be encouraged to accept repaired or recycled items rather than brand new ones as part of a settlement for damaged or stolen property.
There are also plans to work on policies for re-using and recycling charging equipment in electric cars.
The greener plans come as drivers are told they can get a discount for charging electric cars at unpopular hours to stop National Grid overloading if everyone all attempts to charge at the same time.
Drivers of older vehicles are facing higher prices at petrol pumps from Autumn too as the government push for electric cars to become the norm.
But green taxes are likely to be introduced on to cars to counteract the loss of fuel duty as petrol and diesel cars disappear from the roads..
