Big Four accountant PwC plans to hire 100,000 employees world-wide as it expands lucrative consultancy services in areas such as climate change.
The hiring spree over the next five years will take its global headcount to nearly 384,000.
It is part of a £8.5billion investment to take advantage of huge demand from businesses for advice on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

In the UK, roughly £850million will be spent over the next three to four years.
PwC is investing in recruitment, training and technology to foster expertise on subjects ranging from how firms can cut carbon emissions, to ‘hybrid’ working practices after the pandemic and how to hire executives from a mix of backgrounds.
Demand for this kind of advice is rapidly growing.
Many firms face a more forthright approach on ESG topics from big City investors such as Legal & General, who have vowed to name and shame firms that do not take enough action.
And consumers are increasingly ‘voting with their wallets’ by buying products that follow strict ethical standards.
PwC has annual revenues of about £30.5billion globally, up 20 per cent on five years ago.
It hopes to double the size of its Asia-Pacific division, which brought in about £4.6billion last year.
Its rival Big Four auditors – Deloitte, KPMG and EY – are also expanding their ESG services.
