ARGOS’ Christmas advert has been unveiled – and it captures a classic family moment everyone is bound to have found themselves in.

The ad features much-loved toy characters Connie and Trevor as the fashion designer doll dances across the screen to Chic’s Le Freak.

Steam from a coffee machine rises and a Sonos speaker pumps out the iconic 1978 song as Connie perks up her hair with a Shark hair dryer.

But the grand finale captures a hilarious moment most of us are guaranteed to have experienced at some point.

As the video closes, Connie somersaults herself into the air, landing in a splits and yells “cut”, pleading with the toy dinosaur: “Please tell me you got that Trev.”

But unbeknown to the popular blonde-haired doll, Trevor has been taking a video of himself the whole time.

Trevor nervously replies: “Uh, yeah,” before admitting: “This is gonna break the internet.”

The 30-second clip is a modern day take on the classic “toys come to life” narrative and builds on Argos’s “There’s More to Argos” brand platform which launched earlier this year.

Developed by The&Partnership, the film was directed by Traktor and animated by Untold and will air tonight at 7.45pm.

People Just Do Nothing’s Ruth Bratt voices the character of Connie while This Country’s Charlie Cooper takes on the mantle of Trevor the dinosaur.

Laura Boothby, head of campaigns at Argos, said: “There was no better way to show off what you can find at Argos this Christmas than bringing back our loveable and family-friendly characters Connie and Trevor.

“In a festive-themed adventure, the dynamic duo spotlight just a few of the incredible products our customers can buy this Christmas, and bring them to life in a witty and playful way – igniting the Christmas joy our customers can find at Argos.”

Meanwhile, Matt Moreland and Chris Clarke, creative directors at The&Partnership, said: “We wanted to pull out all the stops for the latest Argos instalment.

“It is Christmas after all. So we teamed Connie up with some stylish merch, a world class choreographer, and a remix of one of the best disco tracks of all time. Surely nothing could go wrong?”

It comes after Argos closed all its stores across the Republic of Ireland this summer after pulling its home delivery service in March.

The company said at the time the investment required to develop and modernise the Irish part of its business was “not viable”.

The retailer has also closed branches in England as well, including in Coventry, Nottingham and Birkenhead.

In 2022, Argos’s Christmas ad featured a mass of people joining together to celebrate the first festive period in two years not under coronavirus conditions.
