MANY shops and businesses are announcing their closure on the day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll’s funeral.
King Charles lll confirmed the day is officially a Bank Holiday.
Millions will have the day off to pay their respects to her majesty on September 16.
That means many businesses like shops, supermarkets and restaurants will be closed.
But what about petrol stations – will motorists still be able to fill up at the fuel pumps?
Here, we explain what you can expect on the Bank Holiday Monday for the Queen’s funeral.
Some petrol stations are still to reveal whether they will be shut on the day.
However, some supermarkets have decided to stay closed and their respective petrol stations will be affected.
Sainsbury’s petrol stations
Sainsbury’s will shut all its UK stores on Monday and that includes its its convenience stores and petrol filling stations
These will be open later in the day after the funeral, from 5pm-10pm to allow our customers to pick up essential items.

Morrisons petrol stations
Morrisons is also closing all its stores on the day of the Bank Holiday.
That includes its petrol station, but they will open again from 5pm.

Tesco petrol stations
Just like other supermarkets, Tesco will close its doors on the day of the funeral.
Jason Tarry, the boss of Tesco in the UK, said: “We want to express our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, as well as our gratitude to Her Majesty The Queen for her unwavering service.
“On Monday September 19, in order for our colleagues to pay their respects, our large stores will be closed all day and our Express stores will remain closed until 5pm.”
It’s understood that some petrol stations that offer self service will open again in the evening..

Asda petrol stations
Asda will also close their forecourts until 5pm on the Bank Holiday.
That’s along with all stores which will close from midnight on Sunday, September 18, to 5pm the next day – reopening after the funeral service.

Shell petrol stations
Shell told the BBC it will close its stations between 10:30am and 1pm on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
But that applies to the stores it owns and runs.
Shell garages that are operated under the Shell name and run independently can set their own opening hours.
