Are libraries open on the Easter Bank Holiday?

Here’s what we know about opening times and whether libraries will open over the May Bank Holiday.

Libraries are traditionally open from Monday-Saturday every week.

Saturdays often feature reduced hours, so it’s best to check before heading out.

Most libraries close on Sundays and public holidays.

You can check library opening times in your area by entering your postcode onto the government website.

If you need to renew a book that you have taken out, it is likely you can do this online as long as you are registered with the library in question.

And if you’re really craving a new book, you can sign up for the free library app, Libby.

Libby lets you log in to your local library to access ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, so you can listen to your favourite book while relaxing over the Bank Holiday break.
