Are libraries open on the Easter Bank Holiday?

It is all dependant on what each individual library says in a particular area.

However, most libraries are closed over Sundays and Bank Holidays, so it is unlikely you will be able to go to one during the Easter Bank Holiday.

Libraries can be open on a Saturday, but are likely to have reduced opening hours.

You can check library opening times in your area by entering your postcode onto the government website.

The London Library is closed the Sunday and Monday of Bank Holiday weekends, so it would be safe to assume that this means they are closed over Easter.

Libraries under the jurisdiction of the City of Westminster council will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Chelsea Library, Notting Hill Gate Library and North Kensington Library will also be closed on these days.

Libraries in Camden are open on Easter Saturday with usual opening hours, but will be closed on the three other days over the Easter Bank Holiday.

If you need to renew a book that you have taken out, it is likely you can do this online as long as you are registered with the library in question.

University libraries may differ in their opening hours over this Bank Holiday.

The University of London’s library will be closed all four days across the Easter period.

Kingston University’s Penrhyn road library will be open every day across the Easter Bank Holiday.

They will be open from 10am until 5pm on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

They will then be open for 24 hours on Easter Monday.
