ANOTHER supermarket chain is making a major change to its loyalty scheme to rival that of Tesco’s Clubcard.

The John Lewis Partnership is launching a new scheme for shoppers visiting its own-name stores and Waitrose supermarkets next year.

The company has hired specialists who previously worked on Tesco’s hugely popular Clubcard scheme.

The new loyalty programme will give shoppers “even more benefits” than its current MyWaitrose and My John Lewis schemes.

Right now, MyWaitrose membership offers shoppers exclusive discounts rather than loyalty points.

Cardholders can get a free hot drink when they bring a reusable cup and buy something in-store.

Plus they can get 20% off selected fish on Fridays and meat on Saturdays.

Over nine million customers are members of My Waitrose – which in the past year has rewarded customers with £100m in personalised money-off rewards.

Five million shoppers are also members of the My John Lewis scheme which offers personalised discounts, early access to product launches and members-only events.

But the retailer’s new scheme will launch in 2024 and offer customers more personalised discounts to encourage greater shopper loyalty.

It comes only weeks after The Sun revealed that Sainsbury’s was introducing lower prices for Nectar card members to rival Tesco’s Clubcard Prices.

Co-op shoppers can now also get cheaper prices if they are loyalty card members.

Both schemes mimic Tesco’s Clubcard programme which offers similar savings to shoppers.

Sainsbury’s Nectar Prices give customers access to exclusive prices in-store and online on hundreds of selected products.

Shoppers will need to be armed with a Nectar card to take advantage of the savings.

All existing Nectar customers need to do to benefit from Nectar Prices is scan their app or swipe their card at the till to save.

The discounts are then automatically applied at the checkout.

We’ve listed over 100 items that have had their prices cut for Nectar card holders.

Co-op’s new member’s prices scheme is expected to save the average member up to £300 a year on their grocery bills.

Members who scan the app at checkout can get money off on almost 15 products.

New deals will pop up every three weeks.
