Aldi has suggested a chilli prawn and broccoli stir-fry recipe which serves four and together costs just £7.59 if you buy all the ingredients from the supermarket.

For a slightly pricier option, you could whip together Aldi’s coconut beef curry recipe for four for just £10.13.

On average, Brits can spend £9.86 per person on a Chinese takeaway, according to Statista

So for a family of four, a Chinese takeaway can cost around £39.44.

But you can cut costs by up to £7.97 a head or £31.85 for four people if you choose to make your own meal from Aldi’s fakeaway menu.

Before you part with your cash, make sure you compare Aldi’s Chinese food offering to other supermarkets.

Tesco has a 1.14kg all-in-one Chinese meal box that serves two people for £7.50 so for a family of four it would cost £15.

Although it is more expensive than Aldi’s, you would still save an average £24.44 compared to ordering a takeaway for your whole family.

The Tesco option also contains a much bigger selection of Chinese favourites and all you have to do is heat them up.

The box includes chicken in a blackbean sauce as well as sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers.

You can pick it up in your local Tesco branch or order it online, but don’t forget to take delivery costs into account.

Asda also does an all-in-one Chinese takeaway box for two that cost even less than Tesco at £7 for 1.19kg.

It includes chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken, egg-fried rice, prawn crackers and vegetable spring rolls.

The box is available at your Asda stores or online, but extra delivery costs may apply.

In other news, ALDI is launching a new range of reduced price beers that start from just 99p each after saving pub stock from going to waste.

Meanwhile, are the latest supermarket lockdown rules for Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl, Sainsbury’s and M&S.

The Works has also launched a sale on children’s stationery and activities that can help parents stock up for homeschooling.
