Rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13 model are running rampant, but one prominent Wall Street research firm says the model after that will get a significant upgrade – thanks to titanium.
Citing supply chain sources, investment firm JPMorgan Chase said on Tuesday that the 2022 model of the iPhone would have titanium alloy on its chassis.
This is a mixture of titanium and other elements that is both stronger and more resistant to scratches than current iPhone models.
The high-end iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pro has a stainless steel design, whereas the iPhone 12 has an aluminum design.
Older models, including the iPhone 11, also have an aluminum design.

The stronger metal is likely to be limited to the chassis and metallic band on the edge of the iPhone.
The front and back of the iPhone 14, or whatever the tech giant decides to use as the nomenclature, is likely to remain as glass for wireless charging.
Apple recently added to its MagSafe line of accessories, including a case, charger and external battery pack.
The investment report was first spotted by AppleInsider and MacRumors.
Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment from DailyMail.com.
In addition, the 2022 edition of the iPhone is likely to get a major redesign, whereas the iPhone 13 is expected to look similar to the current iPhone 12.
Earlier this month, leaked images of a device purported to be the iPhone 13 showed that it will have a larger camera bump with lenses laid out diagonally, allowing users to take better wide-angle and zoomed-in photos.
In addition, the research firm adds that Apple will cease production of its smaller iPhones, the iPhone 12 mini.
The report adds that the smaller iPhone 12 mini has not lived up to sales expectations, but the similar-sized iPhone SE will see an upgrade to 5G along with an upgraded central processing unit.
Apple is slated to report fiscal third-quarter earnings after the market close on Tuesday.
Of course, since Apple hasn’t officially shared any specs, everything about the iPhone 13 and 14 is pure speculation.
A survey conducted by the used-phone site SellCell found that almost 75 percent of respondents thought Apple would avoid labeling its next-gen smartphone with the number ’13,’ considered unlucky in some cultures.
