It’s the go-to video conferencing app for many people around the world, but it appears that Zoom crashed this morning.

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 08:45 BST, and affected users worldwide.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 60 per cent said they were having issues joining conferences, while 30 per cent were struggling to start conferences.

Meanwhile, 10 per cent said they were having problems logging in altogether.

MailOnline has contacted Zoom for comment.

Zoom said on its Twitter account on Monday morning: ‘We are aware of a subset of customers experiencing errors while joining a live meeting.

‘We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them. Apologies for any inconvenience.’

Zoom later said the issue had been resolved, about an hour and a half after the issues started affecting UK users.

‘We have resolved the issue causing a subset of customers to experience errors while joining a live meeting,’ it tweeted at 10:44 BST.

‘We will continue to monitor and provide updates as we have them. Thanks for your patience.’

On Zoom’s online status page, the firm had listed its Zoom Meetings capability as having ‘degraded performance’, while all other services are ‘operational’.

One Zoom user tweeted that the platform ‘also has Monday blues’, while another said ‘We can’t get our Zoom to work at all!’

Twitter user @MikeJonesPhD, based in Canberra, Australia, said: ‘We’ve just tried about five different links from multiple accounts and can’t start a meeting!’

Australians had been plagued by problems on the platform early on Monday at the start of their working day, affecting locked-down workers and students.

‘Is Zoom down for anyone else or is that just a ‘my school’ problem,’ wrote one student on Twitter.

‘Zoom down, emails down… how is everyone else’s Monday going?’ wrote another user.
