The McDonald’s app offers online ordering already – but only for pick up at your chosen branch.

Home delivery has been available via Uber Eats and Just Eat for some time and that will continue alongside Maccies own in-app delivery service.

The MyMcDonald’s app is available to download for free from the Google Play store for Android phones and Apple’s app store for iPhone users.

Go to the order tab on the app and you can now choose delivery or pick up.

When choosing delivery you’ll need to enter the address you want your food to arrive at and you can also include additional delivery instructions if needed.

That’s different to the pick up option where you choose the nearest store you want to collect your food from.

Like with Uber Eats and Just Eat, you will pay a delivery fee on top of the price of your food.

How much that is can vary according to your location, but you’ll see the price in the app when you select delivery and add your address.

When we looked the fee was £3.99 when ordering for delivery in south east London.

We compared that to Uber Eats, where it was also £3.99 and Just Eat, where it cost £3.50 for orders of less than £7 and 99p for orders over that amount.

There’s no minimum spend as standard, but there may be a set amount on future delivery promotions, so check the small print first of any offers or discounts.

Menu prices may also be higher when getting McDelivery compared to ordering online for picking up.

For instance, when we looked at home delivery in south east London, a double sausage and egg McMuffin was priced at £4.99 for a medium meal – 50p more than the £4.49 pick-up price.

A single hash brown cost £1.09 for delivery the same as the pick-up price.

A pancakes and sausage meal was priced at £4.19 for delivery, costing 50p more than the £3.69 for pick up

McDelivery will be available from 900 of McDonald’s 1,300 branches and the chain has said it will increase the number of places that offer the service.

You can see if delivery is available near my searching for your nearest Maccies here.

Whether you can get the service will also depend on how close you live to the branch and if the area is covered.

You can search your postcode in the app to see if you can get McDelivery to your home.

Delivery times will depend on your local restaurant’s opening times, plus the availability of riders.

Riders delivering McDelivery orders are from Uber Eats. Just like ordering through the Uber Eats platform and Just Eat, if there are no riders available then you might not be able to order.

The usual McDonald’s menu is available to order through McDelivery, apart from ice cream cones and drinks with cream on top like Frappes.

McDonald’s says that there will be delivery-only offers available through the app too.

The fast food chain has offered app-only deals before that you can get by ordering through the app for pick-up in store.

Maccies’ recently ditched its paper loyalty scheme and it now offers a free hot drink after purchasing 5 only on the app.

McDonald’s massively expanded its delivery option last year after the pandemic hit, increasing the number of branches where it’s available.

It also started offering click ands collect orders to people’s cars at some branches.
