Huge operation begins to take tens of thousands of Scouts from the camp site to venues in and around the capital, Seoul, as storm nears
More than 1,000 buses were being deployed to move 36,000 Scouts – mostly teenagers – from the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, as Typhoon Khanun looms.
Most of the scouts, who come from 158 countries, will be taken from the site in the south-western county of Buan to accommodation in the capital, Seoul, and the nearby metropolitan area, said Kim Sung-ho, a vice-minister at the interior ministry. Officials were trying to secure spaces at government training centres and education facilities as well as hotels.
