Photographer Marylise Vigneau finds ordinary Cubans struggling with daily life after the devastating impact of the Covid pandemic

One can find beauty, joy of life, intelligence or bravery in many places in the world. And Cuba has a lot of all these things. Yet, somehow, Cuba is different to me. The alchemy that persists in this place is like no other. Caught between America and the Caribbean, its 1,200km (745 mile) length undulates as if to escape from a half-open jaw.

People are now afraid to go to the hospital.
