WHITE wine has been voted the UK’s favourite bottle, with 36% of adults naming it as their top tipple.

Research has found that 42% of Brits believe that between 6pm – 8pm is the ideal time of day to kick back with a glass of wine.

One in four prefer a glass of red and only 14% are partial to a glass of rosé.

But for the times when a traditional wine glass just doesn’t cut it, adults have confessed to drinking out of other things including a sippy cup, a bowl – and even 2% have glugged it from a shoe.

One in five have admitted to drinking theirs out of the chic, “hipster” alternative of jam jars.

The research was commissioned by Sarah Jessica Parker and her Invivo X co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron ahead of the release of their award-winning Sauvignon Blanc wine in Tesco stores nationwide and online.

The wine was named by Wine Spectator as one of the Top 100 wines in the world from thousands of wines tasted.

It also found 60% of those polled like to enjoy a glass with dinner, with half preferring to indulge in a glass with their partner.

Interestingly, more men prefer to drink with their partner than women do.

As it starts to get darker earlier, it’s no surprise that 40% of Brits are most fond of drinking wine at home, with only one in 10 opting to drink out at a restaurant/bar.

Sarah Jessica Parker has released a video of her latest wine tasting and blending session with jam jars, that reveals exactly what goes into making the wine behind the ‘X’.

Sarah Jessica said: “As always, my partners Tim and Rob really surprised me with the wine samples for this Sauvignon Blanc blend.

“This is our third vintage so the challenge each year is to make sure our new vintage is as good as previous years, given the love and respect for it from our customers but keeping true to this year’s grapes.

“It has an incredible fragrance along with a unique taste and mouth-feel but is still in-keeping with the style of a Sauvignon Blanc, which I’ve found can be more flexible than I originally thought.”

Invivo Co-founder Rob Cameron added: “Every time we blend the new vintage of Sauvignon Blanc, Sarah Jessica continues to push the style – and her blending skills are really evolving.

“This year’s wine has a touch of oak introduced to it – given Sarah Jessica’s love for Chardonnay – and has a lovely, soft, full-bodied palate.

“It’s still representative of Sauvignon Blanc with its tropical fruit aromas and a nice interplay of fruit and acid, but with Sarah Jessica’s unique handprint on it.”

Sarah Jessica Parker has mentioned that the ‘X’ on the wine label represents her signature Instagram sign-off “X, SJ”, and has been hand-painted by Sarah Jessica.

The colourways of each of the wines in the Invivo X, SJP collection are matched to a colourway in her shoe collection, SJP Collection.

The wine can be purchased at Tesco stores nationwide as well as via Ocado, winedelivered.co.uk and Harvey Nichols.
