DONALD Trump’s Twitter copycat social media app, Truth Social, appeared in the App Store earlier this morning, making it available to iPhone users.

Already, the app has experienced crashes, error messages, tech issues and is unusable for most people that have tried to download it.

What is Truth Social?

In October 2021, following his ban from most major social media platforms in the US, former President Donald Trump announced that he would be launching his own social app, Truth Social.

Truth Social is modeled the same way as Twitter, with most people calling it Twitter’s copycat or knock-off.

In the app store, Trump and his team have described the app as “free from political discrimination” but due to its founder and founding principles, it is being called an alt-right platform, likened to Parler or Gab.

Following the bumpy app launch, there is now a waitlist of approximately 150,000 to make an account on Truth Social.

Truth Social’s alt-right predecessors, including Parler, have been since removed from the app store under accusations of inciting violence and spreading fake news.

With the demise of its predecessors, it’s unclear how long Truth Social will be available to the public.

When will Truth Social be available on Android?

While Truth Social launched today for iPhone users, there does not seem to be any information surrounding its Android launch date.

There is no hard date reported from Trump’s team or from the Android store.

Several users have asked on Twitter when they might be able to expect an Android version, but there has yet to be a reply from any reputable sources.

With all of the blunders surrounding the iPhone release, it’s likely that Trump’s team might try to clean up some of the app’s problems before moving forward with a larger scale launch.

Last year, Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube after using those platforms to incite violence and spread disinformation surrounding the 2020 presidential election.

Twitter announced that Trump’s ban is permanent, and quickly shut down another account that the former president tried to create.

Trump’s Facebook ban is currently set for two years, and his YouTube ban is indefinite.
