WHATSAPP is backtracking on a minor change that’s enraged users.
Swathes of messaging fans took to social media slamming the adjustment as “horrible” and “jarring”.

“It’s a recent change,” one person wrote on Reddit.
“Don’t like it.”
Another added: “Hard dislike. I’m surprised something so small is so jarring.
“But every message irritates me now.”

The tiny design alteration was made to the “online” and “typing” indicators at the top of WhatsApp.
Users noticed that the Meta-owned app randomly decided to add capital letters to the two words.
But the social network has told the Independent that the move will be reversed following the backlash.
The change was apparently only made to a limited number of app users as a test.

Seeing green
It’s not the first tweak WhatsApp has made recently that went down badly with users.
People have been complaining this week about the buttons changing from blue to green.
The design shake-up is rolling out to iPhones, which the company says is to bring a “modern, new experience” and “make it more accessible and easier to use”.
One user wrote: “WhatsApp needs to chill with these unnecessary changes. Why the hell are my icons green.”
