What Happened To Kelsey Jeter? On June 5, 2009, Kelsey Jeter, a 12-year-old Hillsboro girl, was slain by her own mother, Debra Jeter.
Although the progression of time, the news and case of Debra Jeter slitting her own daughter’s throat is unsettling.
On June 5, 2009, at the age of 32, she slashed the throats of both of her children at an abandoned home off of Interstate 77 in Hillsboro, Texas.
In 2004, Debra Jeter was charged with brutally assaulting her older daughter, Kiersten, but the charges were dropped after Debra Jeter completed mental health treatment.
Further, Kelsey, her 12-year-old daughter, was brutally murdered with a knife in that event.
What Happened To Kelsey Jeter?
After being discharged from the hospital, Debra formulated a plan to see her two children, Kelsey and Kiersten, and drove them to an abandoned house off Interstate 77 right before Route 35 in Milford.
According to reports, Jeter commenced by striking Kiersten with a knife. As she battled with her mother, Kiersten yelled for her sibling to run. As a result, Debra’s attention turned away from Kiersten and toward Kelsey.
Kiersten was stabbed in the back while defending her sister. Kelsey was tragically killed in the abandoned house’s bathroom after Debra slit her throat.
Debra also returned to Kiersten and sliced her across the neck, severing her airway and a major artery. However, after being discovered in the abandoned house’s bedroom, Kiersten was airlifted for emergency surgery and survived.
Debra Jeter’s Daughter, Kelsey Jeter’s Death
Kelsey Jeter, Debra Jeter’s daughter, died tragically after her mother stabbed her neck. Besides, the incident took place two weeks after being temporarily incarcerated for a suicide attempt in front of her two daughters.
Kiersten, the oldest daughter, was severely injured during the attack. Kiersten was found with a stab wound on her back in addition to a slit neck, apparently as a result of her attempt to protect her younger sister from the attack.
Despite Kelsey’s horrific injuries, she remained alive and cognizant, begging her mother to call for aid. She did not, however, survive the ordeal.
Further, Debra justified her horrible behavior by saying she was “heartbroken” by her divorce and child custody struggle.
Kelsey Jeter’s Family Tragically Breaks Down
Kelsey Jeter’s beloved family of four dispersed in an instant, and the 12-year-old herself died.
As previously said, her mother’s attempt at the heinous crime was a reflection of her broken heart, which was unable to absorb the pain she was experiencing as a result of her divorce and child custody battle.
Lester Lee Jeter, Kelsey’s father, filed for divorce in May 2009, citing undisclosed reasons.
Additionally, while Debra was still in the hospital, her husband filed for divorce, obtained a temporary restraining order, and was awarded temporary custody of his two children.
