WETHERSPOONS has disappointed locals after announcing a beloved pub is set to close permanently just before Christmas.
The plans to shut the pub doors have been slammed as “scandalous” but the closure is still going ahead on December 10.

The Coronet in Holloway Road sits in North London and has entertained guests as far back as 1940 when it was first opened as a glorious Savoy Cinema.
But the infamous pub chain dubbed “spoons” declared they were shutting up shop for good after making a “commercial decision” to list the pub for sale.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We would like to thank our loyal and wonderful staff and customers for their dedicated work and custom over the years.”
The pub chain also assured all existing workers that they’d be kept on or offered alternative roles at other pubs.

A second Wetherspoons spokesperson recently told The Sun: “Final day the pub is open to customers – December 10.”
The Coronet was designed by architect William Glenn when it was a flashy cinema but became a humble pub back in 1983.
Since the shocking closure announcement the pub has since been purchased by David Nourani, the chief executive of DN Property London, who plans on keeping the culture and importance of the building at the forefront of the new project.
Snagged for an undisclosed sum, The Coronet becomes the latest addition to the property tycoons empire that already includes former Wetherspoon’s greats like The Tollgate in Turnpike Lane.

David Nourani of DN Property London said: “The Coronet is steeped in so much history that it would have been scandalous if it had been allowed to close.
“My intention is that it will continue as a public house, with exciting plans for a delicate and sensitive renovation.”
More Wetherspoon branches have closed in recent weeks including The Foxley Hatch in Purley after they announced they’re pulling down the shutters for the final time on December 3.
In a statement, the pub chain said: “We would like to thank all of the staff and customers at the Foxley Hatch who have made it such a wonderful pub.
“We appreciate our staff’s dedication and hard work and our customers’ loyalty.”
The massive chain – which has 827 pubs across the UK – warned last September that 32 pubs were being put up for sale.
Earlier this year, The Sun revealed that Wetherspoons had put 11 more pubs up for sale, leaving fans gutted that their local branch could be lost forever.
The total number of closures has now gone above 40.

Holly Booth, 31, and Dale Harvey, 37, from Nottingham, have visited 2,192 pubs since March last year and finally declared a winner earlier this month.
