Fans will still be able o order a burger when ‘Spoons reopens

Punters will be able to head to beer gardens and roof terraces in 394 branches in England from April 12, when lockdown restrictions are expected to ease for the hospitality industry.

But ‘Spoons won’t be offering the full menu to start with to help staff maintain social distancing measures in the kitchen.

It doesn’t expect to be able to serve everything on the menu again from June 21 when all restrictions are to be lifted under the plans.

Until then, sadly, steaks, mixed grills and curries won’t be available to order, neither will sausages, chips and beans.

Pizza lovers will still be able to get their hands on a sour dough base treat, including Margherita, pepperoni and Hawaiin.

Burgers will be back too, and diners will be able to choose from a classic 6oz, fried buttermilk chicken or breaded vegetable options.

New to the menu is the beyond burger, which plant-based and vegan friendly.

Even though it’s a reduced menu, there four gourmet burger options to choose from too, such as the Tennesse burger with a Jack Daniels sauce and the Empire State burger, which comes with two 6oz patties.

But there will only be a choice of two desserts – a warm chocolate brownie and a cookie dough sandwich. They each come in a full or mini size.

What’s not on the Wetherspoons menu?

UNFORTUNATELY, the reduced menu won’t include:

  • Curries
  • Chicken and ribs
  • Most salads and pasta dishes
  • Steak meals
  • Pies
  • It’s fresh from the grill menu
  • Eggs Benedict
  • Bacon butty
  • All day breakfasts

These are a selection of some of the dishes Wetherspoons won’t be service when they reopen.

The chain will also be running it’s free drink meal deal on paninis and wraps, burgers and jacket potatoes.

The fish Friday deal will also still be running, where punters can pick up a free drink with their meal.

Some of the notable meals missing from the breakfast menu include eggs Benedict, bacon butty and the breakfast wrap.

Pies and pasta dishes are almost entirely off the menu too, as well as the chocolate and salated caramel tart which was only added last year.

Punters won’t be able to sit inside boozers until May 17, under the government’s four-step plan to get England out of lockdown.

Pubs will also have to offer table service. ‘Spoons customers can order their food on the free app, although a member of staff will still be on hand for customers who don’t want to use it.

Diners can also use the app to check out the prices of meals and drinks, which vary by branch.

Customers won’t be able to stand at the bar either and they will only be allowed inside to use the toilet.

Wetherspoons isn’t letting customers pre-book a table either, so you’ll have to turn up on the day to see if there’s a space free for you.

Marston’s pub chain is also to reopen almost 700 of its boozers from mid-April – you can see the full list here.

Fuller’s has also announced it will be opening 183 pub gardens when it is given the go-ahead to do so.

When pubs reopen, the hated 10pm curfew has been scrapped and customers won’t have to buy a “substantial meal” when they order an alcoholic drink.
