A LUCKY postcode lottery winner who scooped a six figure sum told her husband to IGNORE the email.

Elisa Leonard, 59, did not believe it when the Postcode Lottery emailed to say they had won and instead took to the internet to google postcode lottery scams.

She said: “I said to my husband I think it is a scam and I went on Google and looked up postcode scams.

“I saw people had been asked to ring the Postcode Lottery by using an email and when they got through, somebody asked them for their bank account details.

“I contacted my husband and said if anyone contacts you from the Postcode Lottery – ignore them.”

But Elisa, who lives in Swinton, says that evening, as she was just about to walk the dog, a lady turned up and asked: “Can you be around tomorrow?”

She says: “My husband said he would be at work and the lady said it might be an idea to take the day off – I was in a nervous state all night.”

When Elisa saw the figure of £249,999 she and husband Chris, a Civil Servant, had won, she said she could not believe it was happening.

She said: “My husband said ‘It’s the first time I have seen you speechless’.”

Now the couple, who bagged the biggest win on what is the first ever millionaire street prize, are letting the news sink in.

Elisa said: “We still have not quite got our heads around it – it’s a really odd feeling. People who win millions must go to pieces.

“It’s a cushion and my husband has his eye on a new Mercedes.”

This comes after a widow won a huge lottery jackpot using her late husband’s tickets.

The couple are the latest to reveal their shock after their neighbourhood won again.

Next door, lucky resident Dolores Santos, 66, has won an amazing three times since moving into the street less than two years ago.

The address  with its M27 9UY postcode has proved super lucky, first bagging her £10, then £1,000 and now a cool £83,333.

But just like her neighbour, Dolores was sceptical at first.

She said: “They were ringing me but I was out volunteering and then I missed the email, the next day I was gardening and a lady came to the door and told me I had won.

“I was not sure, I did not believe it – it seemed a little bit unbelievable

“I won £1,000 last year just before a big family wedding and £10 before that – but I was told it was £83,333.

“I was shocked, surprised…..all those things.

“I am going to put the money into my home as I haven’t lived here that long and treat my son.”

Another neighbour, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she too did not believe she had won and actually put the phone down when someone from the Postcode Lottery rang her.

She said: “They called me and I just put the phone down.

“Then I received an email asking me to contact them – I won £10 last month, so I replied saying if it was about the tenner, I had received it.

“They said it wasn’t about the tenner so I called back and when I discovered I had won £83,333.

“When I got the envelope, I kept opening it over and over, I could not believe it – I kept thinking the numbers would disappear.

“I felt guilty as I had only been in the Postcode Lottery since December, I haven’t even paid off the subscription charge.

“I could not believe it – things like that just don’t happen to people like me.”
