The pub chain is offering a whopping 7.5% discount at its 827 pubs to highlight Tax Equality Day.

Prices are being cut to highlight the benefit of a permanent VAT reduction within the hospitality industry.

The costs are being reduced on all food and beverages in every single EnglishWelsh and Northern Ireland boozers until midnight.

While punters in Scotland will only be able to get the reduction on food and non-alcoholic drinks.

A large breakfast at a Wetherspoons can cost up to £7.21 depending on where you live, but the discount means this will be £6.67, saving you 54p.

The price of beer varies across the country, but a point of Leffee Blonde can cost up to £6.85 in London – this will be reduced to £6.16 today.

Do bear in mind, prices at Wetherspoons pubs vary across the UK, so you won’t always get the same reduction.

If you want to find your nearest site you can use the locator tool on its website.

You just have to type in your location or postcode and it will bring up your nearest boozer, you can also type in the name of the pub as well.

Pubs and restaurants pay 20% VAT, but Spoons founder and chairman Tim Martin says the law is “unfair” to the hospitality sector.

He said: “The biggest threat to the hospitality industry is the vast disparity in tax treatment among pubs, restaurants and supermarkets.

“Supermarkets pay zero VAT in respect of food sales, whereas pubs and restaurants pay 20%

“This tax benefit allows supermarkets to subsidise the selling price of beer.”

Mr Martin says pubs have been under “fantastic pressure” for decades, because of these tax disadvantages.

Plus, the pub chain has just announced a new offer for students where they can get special discounts across 30 menu items.

The deal runs from September 13 to October 11 and will see prices slashed on pints of Budweiser and Corona, as well as Strong Bow Dark Fruits.

Discounts are also available on food items like the breakfast muffin, burgers and pizzas too.

It comes soon after The Sun revealed that Wetherspoons would be closing another of its town centre pubs next week.

The Widow Frost in Mansfield told its customers it will be shutting its doors for the final time on September, 22.

The popular site was one of more than 30 locations put up for sale last September.
