WETHERSPOONS is making a major change at hundreds of its pubs next week – and punters will love it.

The vast majority of its 827 pubs across the country will be screening the Women’s World Cup, starting on Thursday.

The national chain confirmed that only a handful of their boozers across the country would not televise matches due to not having screens.

It comes after Wetherspoons decided to show the men’s football World Cup for the first time ever in December last year.

A spokesman for the boozer said: “Television coverage of the matches will be screened at the pubs for the duration of the tournament, which concludes with the final on Sunday, August 20 at 11am.
  
“Enjoy football action with a superb selection of real ales, craft beers and wines.”

The World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand, with Spoons showing the majority of fixtures, including the Lionesses’ first game against Haiti on Saturday, July 22.

The full list of Wetherspoons pubs don’t have screens and won’t be showing any games:

• Wetherspoons, Manchester
• The Watchman, New Malden
• The Britannia Inn, Plymouth
• The Kingfisher, Poynton
• The Ralph Fitz Randal, Richmond
• The Castle Hotel, Ruthin
• Wetherspoons, Victoria
• The Man in the Wall, Wimborne

Football fans heading to Spoons to watch the games will be able to enjoy a pint of Strongbow or Strongbow Dark Fruits after the popular drinks returned to menus.

The fan favourites were axed from menus back in 2021 and replaced by Stowford Press Apple and Stowford Press Mixed Berries.

But now from August 2 punters will be able to get their hands on the Strongbow classics again.

Prices do tend to vary from pub to pub so it’s always best to check your local before paying.
